I. Common Required Courses

  1. For requirements regarding the completion of common courses and other graduation conditions, please refer to the Notes section of the Required Course Table.
  2. For foreign language courses required by this department, students must choose one of the following options:
    a. Freshman English (Engineering Course Group), totaling 6 credits.
    b. Other English courses offered by the Department of English, with successful completion of 6 credits.
    c. Second foreign language courses offered or recognized by the Language Center; the same foreign language must be taken continuously, and 6 credits must be successfully completed.
  3. Credits obtained from Continuing English courses are not counted toward the total graduation credits of this department.
  4. The General Education Core Requirement has been revised to three major domains: Humanities and Thought, Natural Sciences, and Social Trends and Phenomena. Students must complete at least one course in each domain.

II. College- and Department-Required Courses

  1. Required courses total 112 credits, and elective courses total 16 credits. Among the elective credits, at least 6 credits must be selected from either:
    • Elective courses offered by this department (course code CH), or
    • Relevant courses (excluding departmental required and required-elective courses) included in the College of Engineering’s Ministry of Education New Engineering Education Method Experiment and Construction Project (Category C: College Thematic Course Group Construction Project).
The minimum graduation requirement is 128 credits.
  2. Students may enroll in Engineering Mathematics (CH2009, CH2010) only after passing at least one of the following courses: Calculus (MA1003) or Calculus (MA1004).
  3. Students may not enroll in Capstone Project and Bachelor’s Thesis courses concurrently within the same semester.
  4. Core required-elective courses are divided into Group A and Group B. Students must complete and pass at least one course from each group. At least one Capstone required-elective course must also be completed and passed. Students who have completed Bachelor’s Thesis I (CH4071) may enroll in Bachelor’s Thesis II (CH4072). Credits earned beyond the minimum requirement from core required-elective and capstone required-elective courses may be counted toward the department’s total graduation credit requirement.
  5. Students undertaking the Integrated Theory and Practice Project must enroll in courses EG3001, EG3002, and EG3003 in the prescribed sequence.
  6. Students wishing to enroll in Process Design (CH4042) must have passed at least two (inclusive) of the following four courses:
    • Material and Energy Balances and Chemical Engineering Calculations (CH1012)
    • Transport Phenomena and Unit Operations III (CH3043)
    • Chemical and Materials Thermodynamics I (CH3059)
    • Chemical Reaction Engineering (CH3011)

III. Double Major Regulations

  1. Double major applications and requirements shall be handled in accordance with the University’s Regulations Governing Students’ Double Majors.
